advanced menu - stashed menues to the left and right
- space saving method to have a menu vertically 'stashed' on a right or left edge
(in this case to keep my overall menu on the left the stashing of the left sample menues starts at 210px from left)
- I have used multiple - six - Menu Machine objects, for each section one
- the first level of each shows only one the main menu item
- the menues on the left slide in, on the right submenu block I have applied the switch-on/switch off effect (there are so many features in MenuMachine2, I have to show them somewhere ;-)
- the vertical textrunning was achieved by simply typing a <br> tag after each letter into the textfield like this: P<br>R<br>O<br>F<br>I<br>L<br>E
- keep in mind that vertical text is more difficult to read plus menues like this require window height. so it is recommended to only use this method for few sections (you could also use some cool small symbols instead of text as main items and such put up 15 or 20 menues vertically, of course :-)
- if you are concerned about users doing textzooming which means the text would run longer vertically, make the items appr. 20% larger in height
- I have set delay times until the menues fade/close to 0. if you'd set them to 4000ms or longer you can allow a sort of sitemap impression
- btw: the document statistics for the whole page is 18KB only. The MenuMachine code is appr. 20KB and has to load only once. If you tried to do that page with show/hide layer actions and even used action groups to save code, this page's filesize still would be several times that large...
(for demonstration only - no pagelinks added to the items)
